The Alabama High School Athletic Association and the Huntsville Sports Commission are proud to once again host the High School State Wrestling Championships February 14-16, 2013. All bouts will be held in the Von Braun Center Propst Arena. Admission is $10 per day. No tournament passes will be sold. Gates open 30 minutes prior to weigh-ins.

Thursday (Feb. 14)

Big Spring Bash Lodging

As you make your plans to attend the 2013 NASA Spring Bash on February 23-24, please consider booking your rooms through the Von Braun Center.  Their representative, Marie Arighi, will be happy to help you secure group rates for your team at area hotels.  Much like a personal travel agent, she can give you insider information about the Huntsville area that hotel websites can’t provide, and she can offer your team access to exclusive hotels, like the Embassy Suites, which only book through the Von Braun Center this busy weekend.  Plus, booking rooms through the Von Braun Center helps us keep tournament costs low.

Hotel reservations can only be reserved through the Von Braun Center once your team has been accepted into the tournament. Please check the SRVA website to verify you are an approved team prior to making hotel reservations.  Then contact Marie Arighi for great rates:

Parking Info

VBC event parking is $5 per day.  You may leave and re-enter with your parking pass, but there is no guarantee that space will still be available when you return.  A map of available parking around the Von Braun Civic Center is available at this link.  There are multiple events the weekend of the BASH please check the parking map and leave plenty of time to arrive and park.

Inclement Weather Policy

NASA Big Spring Bash will not be cancelled due to weather. It is the decision of each coach and/or club whether their team should attempt to travel to a tournament during inclement weather. Teams deciding not to attend the NASA Big Spring Bash will not receive a refund of their tournament entry fee. In addition, those teams must notify the NASA Tournament Director prior to the tournament that they will not participate should they decide to not to attend.

Bash Concessions, Chairs, Coolers, etc.

FOOD & DRINK

The Von Braun Center (VBC) will again offer a variety of food and concession items.  Absolutely no outside food or drink is allowed.  Players may bring their own water bottle in their gear bag.

CHAIRS

Outside chairs are allowed; however, the VBC provides numerous courtside chairs as well as a large team gathering area in the South Hall.

COOLERS

The VBC policy prohibits coolers in the convention center.  Please leave them in your cars.

LOST and FOUND

The tournament desk will hold lost and found items for the duration of the tournament.  The VBC & NASA are not responsible for any unattended valuables.

All across the U.S., fall season is synonymous with football. America gets “football fever” as college and professional teams hit the gridiron each week. Thanksgiving marks a time each November when football really takes hold. Days off from work allow people time to enjoy friends, family, food, and football. Many football fans capitalize on their time off from work by getting together and playing in informal pick-up football games with friends. Over time these games have become known as “Turkey Bowls,” a salute to the Thanksgiving holiday food of choice.
Walter Jones’ Turkey Bowl takes this annual tradition to the next level by organizing the event into a competitive format for the great cause of benefiting charity. The 2nd annual flag football tournament will be held at Milton Frank Stadium in Huntsville, AL on November 17th and 18th, 2012. The tournament will be comprised of 16 teams, with 10 players per team. Each team is guaranteed to play in a minimum of two games (see game rules for additional details). All proceeds raised from sponsor will go to benefit HEALS, Inc.
