Our Game Plan

•To identify, recruit, and promote sports events and meetings that create a positive economic impact for the city of Huntsville
•To educate the public on the economic, public relations, health, fitness, and recreational value of sports events and activites
•To strengthen relationships with other organizations that support our mission (Chamber of Commerce, VBC, CVB, hotels, and restaurants)
•To advise local organizations of the sports industry potential for proposed or remodeled facilities
•To provide quality of life events for the citizens of Huntsville
•To establish Huntsville's reputation as a premier host for sports events

Who we are

Founded in 1999, the Huntsville Sports Commission is a not-for-profit advocacy organization that promotes an enhanced quality of life in the Huntsville area by indentifying, recruiting, and promoting amateur sports events and meetings.

Total Economic Impact

For the 27 events that the Huntsville Sports Commission brought to Huntsville in the 2006-2007 fiscal year, the total estimated economic impact was $7,298,200.

These events encompassed such sports as the golf, gymnastics, hockey, Frisbee, soccer, volleyball, softball, tennis, wrestling, and square dancing.

Huntsville area facilties involved included the Von Braun Center, Metro Kiwanis Sportsplex, Wilcoxon Iceplex, Huntsville Tennis Center, and John Hunt Park.
