Huntsville Sports Commission Welcomes New Board Members

The Huntsville Sports Commission is pleased to announce the addition of 2 new members to the Huntsville Sports Commission Board as of January 2022. Clarissa McClain and Ryan Parker share in the HSC mission to promote and enhance the quality of life in Huntsville by identifying, recruiting, promoting, and staging sporting events and meetings. They make a great addition to the Huntsville Sports Commission Board.

Clarissa McClain is an Atlanta native, but considers Huntsville home now. Her love and appreciation for sports began at an early age, with her parents supporting her pursuit of any sport that sparked interest, including track and field, tennis, swimming, softball, basketball, even ice skating. It’s her firm belief that participation in sports fosters characteristics that will benefit an individual for a lifetime – confidence, discipline, perseverance, and teamwork.

McClain is an Auburn University graduate and currently serves at the Director of Marketing and Communications at Randolph School, the area’s only K-12 college preparatory independent school committed to providing excellence in academics, the arts, and athletics. The Marketing and Communications Office at Randolph School is award-winning, producing graphics, annual publications, and promotional video content. In May of 2021, McClain won two Telly Awards for branded content.

Prior to joining Randolph School in March of 2019, she worked as a broadcast journalist at WHNT News 19 in Huntsville. Her tenure there lasted nearly 12 years and included projects that earned recognition from the Alabama Broadcasters Association and an Emmy award. McClain enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, cooking, reading, and learning how to speak Spanish. In Clarissa’s own words, she strives to bring kindness, light and positive change to any space she occupies.

Ryan Parker was born in Mobile, Alabama and attended UMS-Wright High School and the University of Alabama. Ryan is currently the General Manager and CEO of Culligan Water Conditioning in Huntsville.  For over 60 years Culligan Water Conditioning has been delivering high-quality water treatment products and equipment for industrial, commercial, and residential applications.

Ryan served as a Board of Director for Mayfair Park for 5 years and was president of the park for 2 years.  He also has been an active member and session member of First Presbyterian Church of Huntsville. Ryan is married to Margaret Harper Parker and has two children, Davis and Brooke.

The Huntsville Sports Commission looks forward to the knowledge and passion for sports both Clarissa and Ryan bring to the organization.
