Huntsville, AL – The Huntsville Sports Commission (HSC) is donating 25 Wilson soccer balls to the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama this Sunday, May 16 at the James A. Lane Club at 5 PM.

“Our Boys & Girls Clubs soccer teams are so appreciative of this donation and look forward to putting these soccer balls to great use.  With over 30 inner-city teams playing through our organization, this will definitely help out this season,” stated Calvin Fletcher, Athletic Director of Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama.

The HSC hosted the AHSAA State Soccer Championships at John Hunt Park this past week. Wilson soccer balls from the AHSAA for the tournament were gifted to the HSC at the conclusion of the tournament. In an effort to give back to the community and add to the HSC mission of increasing the quality of life in Huntsville, the HSC has decided to donate all Wilson soccer balls to the Huntsville Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama.

Mark Russell, Huntsville Sports Commission Executive Director says, “Knowing events hosted by the Huntsville Sports Commission not only have an economic impact to our city but can provide a positive impact to our local sports and non-profit organizations makes what we do worth it even more.”

This year marked the 20th year the AHSAA State Soccer Championships has been hosted in Huntsville, Ala. Thirty-two teams from across the state traveled to John Hunt Park for this year’s tournament. The event had an economic impact of approximately $700,000.
